Further your knowledge and skills, in Bill Cosby’s words: “sharpen your saw”. You can do this through local schools, senior centers and online access. My friend Teresa took a sewing class at the local community college to refine her sewing skills. I have taken guitar lessons myself to satisfy a dream I had always wanted to materialize. There are plenty of opportunities out here to further your education, your knowledge, your skills.
For those of you who are in your senior years but refuse to sit around while you age, I strongly recommend you pay a visit to your local Senior Citizens Center and find out what classes they offer that could interest you. Senior Centers not only do they provide the perfect and safe opportunity to socialize with peers of your same age group, but they also offer various opportunities for you to learn new skills.
I had the opportunity to teach Spanish for Non-Spanish speakers at the local Senior Center and ended up learning a lot of stuff from the participants and even making new friends. This involvement kept me busy and focused on giving back to my community that I did not have time to feel bored.
Believe me, the sense of accomplishment is worthwhile the involvement.
